Daniel Charon performs at Joyce Soho, April 23-16, 2009
Daniel Charon presents
Conduit - Three Dance Works
Two World Premieres • One New York Premiere
at
Joyce SoHo
April 23 - 26, 2009
Thursday, Friday, Saturday @ 8pm
Sunday @ 3pm
Tapping into the deep-rooted seeds of our individuality, NYC choreographer Daniel Charon seeks to display fresh perspectives in how we love, hate, desire, and exist inside a community. Charon returns to Joyce SoHo with a sleek and evocative grouping of physically and emotionally charged dances. Including two world premieres and one NYC premiere, Conduit - Three Dance Works points three compelling pieces toward consideration of oneʼs personal and societal relationships. At one moment robust and voluptuous, the next sinewy and edged, Charon's formidable cast lures its audience to intimate places of fervent murmurs. There is an effort to maintain a strong movement vocabulary as the prominent element in the work as Conduit seeks to better understand the parts of us that are most human. The performance features original lighting designs by Carrie Wood, an original composition by Koven Smith, and costumes by Liz Sargent and Stephanie Liapis.
Performances will take place at Joyce SoHo April 23-26, 2009 (Thursday-Saturday at 8:00, Sunday at 3:00). Joyce SoHo is located at 155 Mercer Street (between Houston and Prince Streets) in New York City. Take the R train to Prince Street, the F, V, B or D train to Broadway/Lafayette, or the 6 train to Bleecker Street. Tickets are $18. Reservations can be made by calling 212-352-3101 or by logging onto www.joyce.org.
“What makes this piece [Anyone in the World] exceptional is that aspects of relationships are
evoked, rather than alluded to, in pure dance that builds gradually in emotional intensity...”
~ Jennifer Dunning, of the New York Times
