Nicholas Andre Dance will present its 5th New York City Season at Dance Theater Workshop Bessie Schönberg Theater located at 218 W. 19th St between 7th and 8th Ave. on July 10-11, 2009 at 7:30pm as part of Gotham Arts SummerDanz Festival. These two nights will showcase three world premieres, Until Blue, is an exhilarating, fast paced athletic work that pushes the dancers to their limits through the pure joy of movement, along with the company premiere of a work Passage that was commissioned by Cedar Crest College in 2009. This piece follows the deliberate nomadic journey of a group across the land to new beginnings. Undercurrent the last new work on the program, features four dancers who gracefully grow throughout the work while keeping a constant through line to music by Arvo Part. The company will also perform a few repertory favorites including Still Life, Passio Nostri and In the Absence of Others.

Real Friends, Real Pros, Real Dancers... Join iDANZ Today! Jennifer Dunning of the New York Times wrote, “Nick Ross is one of those choreographers who are fully immersed in dance. The pieces suggested a creator who is happiest when swimming pleasurably through the waters of dance, cuffing ideas and styles as he goes, rather than rushing into a studio with a burning theme for a new work.” Nancy Wozny of the Houston Chronicle wrote, “Ross' affinity for sports plays out in the sheer athleticism of his work, where strenuous movement and pulsing momentum drive his choreography.”

Artistic director and choreographer Nick Ross earned a BFA from SUNY-Purchase and has danced with many modern dance companies here in New York, as well as worked as an adjunct professor of dance at Adelphi University and guest teacher around the United States.

Dancers include: Katlyn Baskin, Jon DeMone, Kristy Engel, Blake Faulds, Trista Jennings Jeremy Nedd, Morgan Palmer, Mark Taylor and Aaron Walter. The performance includes lighting design by Burke Wilmore.
