New York International Ballet Competition brought its 25th anniversary celebration to a close with the announcement of this year's prize winners and a performance by participants in this year's and past NYIBCs. The Awards Ceremony, hosted with charm and spontaneity by New York-based choreographer Robert Battle, included presentation of an Honorary Gold Medal to Eleanor D'Antuono, Artistic Director of NYIBC since 1996. The Medal was presented by John Meehan, D'Antuono's frequent partner at American Ballet Theatre, where she was a principal dancer for twenty years.
Founder/Executive Director Ilona Copen announced her retirement this year and, in her moving remarks, thanked the audience, the Board, and the people who have worked with NYIBC since its beginning. She then introduced Richard Chen See, former principal with the Paul Taylor Dance Company for 15 years, who has acted this year as Director, and takes over as Executive Director of NYIBC.

Karina Gonzalez (Venezuela) Silver Medalist 2007 and partner Ricardo Graziano (Brazil) Lefkowitz Award for Artistic Achievement 2007 both dancers with the Tulsa Ballet
Silvina Perillo (Argentina) Bronze medalist 1990, soloist with the Ballet Estable del Teatro Colon
Victoria Mazzarelli (USA) Gold Medalist at the first NYIBC in 1984, dancing with Alexandre Proia (France) Finalist in 1984, who went directly from NYIBC into NYCB. The couple delighted the audience in "You're My Thrill," created for them by Proia.
